17 May – A day of chores and relaxation

We decided to use this trip to also try and practice what we think it will be like to tour for two months as we will be doing in New Zealand. To that extent today was classed as a ‘chores’ and relaxation (minimal driving) day. We started with the laundry even through we were very apprehensive of the 1970’s washing machine, however by following instructions that had been left and a little trial and error we managed to obtain the correct sequence of dials that meant the machine started and the appropriate washing type sounds were heard. The laundry was wet when we removed it and the soap powder had disappeared so we assume the wash successfully completed. To ensure the complete home away from home experience we now have laundry hanging from every door frame to dry. The next order of the day was to review and finalise our plans for our remaining three days in Inverness which includes trips to John O’Groats and the Castle of Mey and Dunrobin Castle. We’ve also confirmed arrival arrangements at our next property in Peebles for this coming Saturday. Finally there was a little time to undertake some I.T housekeeping and maintenance on the website. If you follow our picture gallery then apologies but it is empty today as I refrained from sharing pictures of the drying laundry, normal service to be restored tomorrow.
