Sunday the 29th was a fairly uneventful drive back across the border in to England and our half way stop of Barnsley, we hadn’t actually realised how close we were to the Border whilst in Peebles, I guess that’s why the region is called the Borders. We left Peebles at 10:30 and after a few stops to admire the scenery as we drove south, we arrived in Barnsley at about 4 PM. Checked in to the hotel, very strange staying in to a Hotel after spending the last 3 weeks staying in rented houses, and had dinner at the Hotel.
Monday the 30th. We had a leisurely breakfast and then off to Worsborough Mill as we have some time to kill before our scheduled 2 PM tour at Wentworth Woodhouse. On the way to the mill we decided to follow the tourist signs to Elsecar Heritage museum our of curiosity. It’s a small village that they have preserved and many of the buildings are now occupied by small antiques shops. We had a brief look around and then made our way to the mill and then finally our tour of the house. Wentworth Woodhouse is the largest stately home in the UK. The tour finished slightly later than we had anticipated and we eventually arrived home at just after 9 pm.
