Saturday 29th April – new town new country

Today we leave Japan for South Korea, unfortunately our flight isn’t until 3.45 luckily we don’t have to checkout until 12.00 and our lift to the airport is scheduled for 12.40 so it shouldn’t be too bad. We got up and had breakfast then decided we would pack before going out for a walk. It looked really hot and humid outside but actually when we went out it was quite chilly. All the same we walked round to the station to post the wifi that we have been using for the whole holiday then after walking around a few streets that we haven’t previously explored we went back to the hotel where we had a coffee then it was time to checkout. We moved downstairs to the lobby where we should have only had about 40 minutes before our lift arrived but although someone came in at the right time to be our lift but he actually had a completely different name on his card so we carried on waiting and just as I was about to go ring someone to find out where we our driver was they got a call saying our driver was on the first floor when we went down it was actually the same guy who had come up earlier. I was a bit worried that we were going to the wrong airport but as it turned out after about 20 minutes in one of the tunnels that run under the river we arrived at the airport, it would seem that the driver hadn’t been at the airport too often as we ended up in the taxi driving lot! Anyway after a few sharp turns we got to the drop off point we tried to use the check in machine but it didn’t seem to want to take the passport so we went round to the check in desk then went to go through the security check which was very slick. We went to the lounge which was nice but unfortunately didn’t have any food, it did however have a great drinks machine, to get a beer you put it in the tray and it tilted the glass when it poured the larger then added froth on the top. As expected we left exactly on time then arrived at in South Korea at 5.45. Coming into land we had a great view over the countryside which I have to say was significantly more built up than I expected all you could see was block after block of high rise flats. We were one of the first off the plane which meant that we got through customs quickly and we were in the car driving out of the airport by 6.15, not bad considering we weren’t due to land until 6! It was quite busy driving into the city but we got to the hotel just after seven so after checking in and sorting out our bags we wondered round to the shops to get a couple of beers as the hotel bar doesn’t open at weekends then went to the and watched baseball until it was time for bed.
