Today we packed up and set off for Massachusetts, Falmouth to be precise, it was really thick fog again this morning when we woke up but luckily by the time we left it had almost cleared although the forecast of 80 percent humidity was right in fact it was possibly even higher as soon as we walked outside it hit you and it was like walking into a shower! Although it isn’t very far to drive today we decided we would take it easy as we did so much yesterday. We packed the car up then set off, the first challenge was the roadworks at the end of the road, we have noticed that roadworks seem to be managed by the police out here, as we left the carpark a policeman was waving at us, our initial instinct was to wave back but then we realised that he was telling us that the road the other way was closed! We expected to drive out over the bridge again but we left on a different road this time taking us alongside the river and putting us onto the highway. The drive was quite uneventful, mostly through small but modern towns then finally on the highway to Falmouth where there were sections of trees that had definitely changed and other parts where the trees were all green. We drove to the hotel planning to leave the car there and then walk into town for something to eat but they said the room was ready so after a chat to the manager we unpacked the car then took a walk up to town. Falmouth seems to be quite a small own especially compared to Newport, there is a historic Falmouth walk we could do but we decided to just find something to eat and as we haven’t had a Mexican yet this holiday we stopped there and had a very nice but very large meal, this meant that all we did was walk round a bit then head back to the room for a relax. We have a nice self catering apartment for the next 4 nights, this rather explains the American view of self catering, we have a massive fridge / freezer a quite small microwave and a coffee maker! The room itself is really nice though we can just about see the sea from the breakfast table, we have a nice lounge area and of course somewhere to keep the beer cold.
