Thursday 19th October – Full circle

Another beautiful day which started with our now favourite breakfast in the local deli, this was followed by a walk round Stockbridge this time with the camera, we walked up to the chiming tower which unfortunately didn’t chime but is a memorial to those who took part in WWI, WWII, Korea and Vietnam wars, after that we walked back along main street and round the back of the hotel before packing up the cases, loading the car and going round to checkout. We had decided to go to Boston via the highway rather than the interstate which actually doubled the time it would take but as we are in no rush to head back we decided to take this route. We started off going through a number of quite modern new England towns but then managed to find a few cute ones and saw some wonderful colours on route. Then all too soon we were navigating the streets of Boston which felt very busy after the roads we have been on for the last few weeks. We found the hotel without too much trouble and after unloading the car and depositing our bags in the room it was time to try and drive round to the car hire company. On reflection doing this at rush hour probably wasn’t our best idea but Chris manfully navigated the streets of Boston and we returned the car without any problems. We decided we would go and get something to eat so actually went back to one of the first pubs we went to when we were last here five weeks ago, in a way it was really nice finishing where we started but in another way it is a shame that five weeks have gone so quickly! After a really nice meal and a few drinks we set off back to the hotel. We walked half the way then realised that we hadn’t actually used the tube while when we were here last time so we decided to give it a go. We managed to navigate buying a ticket and actually got on the right line and ended up back at the hotel about 8pm. Hard to believe this time tomorrow we will be on our way back home but it has been great, just need to plan the next one!
