A very early start which at least meant that we had a trouble free journey to the Airport followed by breakfast in the lounge and before long it was time to board. We ended up being one of the last on the plane but as it was half empty that is not really a surprise. We left on time then set off to Innsbruck. Unfortunately by the time we arrived it was cloudy and there was a little snow in the air which turned out to be the theme for the day but it was nice to arrive early and we made quick progress through passport control by which time our bags were on the carousel then it was out to the taxi rank for the very short journey to Innsbruck itself. We couldn’t check into our room but we could leave our bags so we added a few layers then went out to explore. We walked to tourist information which is only about 5 minutes away then started walking round the old town and the Christmas markets. It all looks really nice in the snow but it is a little difficult to see the mountains as they are in cloud but the forecast is for it to clear up later tonight so hopefully the forecast is correct. We went round a couple of the Christmas markets which have a few food stalls and some decorations then decided to stop for lunch. We found a nice looking restaurant which seemed to be in a church hall or something similar, the food was ok, nothing spectacular but it did warm us up and it was nice to have something to eat and drink. After lunch we went back to the Christmas markets and brought a couple of lanterns which have pictures of snowmen on them then we went in search of a hot chocolate which we found just round the corner from the hotel, I went for the traditional chocolate with whipped cream whereas Chris decided to go for Chocolate with a hint of Orange and Chilli which was surprisingly nice! By this time we were able to checkin so we went back to the hotel and collected our bags then went up to our room which is actually a suite and absolutely lovely, very luxurious, the only downside is that we don’t seem to have a kettle but luckily we brought our travel one from home so after unpacking we had a coffee and relaxed before heading out for either a drink or something to eat later.
