What a difference 24 hours makes, after the snow of yesterday today was forecast to be partly cloudy all day which luckily was wrong as it ended up being sunny for the whole day. We had woken up early and therefore were at the lift by 9am not quite first tracks but close to it. We decided to take the chair lift this morning rather than the gondola although neither had a queue, unfortunately although the sun was out it was actually really cold, someone told us that is was -1 F this morning which I could easily believe. We are both so much better as skiing in good visibility so had a great time playing around on Avanti lift this morning, it seemed that we were the only people using this lift to start off with so we made the most of it. After hot chocolate we set off for Golden Peak which is where the Manor is, this was the first hotel we stayed in at Vail on our first skiing trip to the states all those years ago. We sort of recognised some of the runs on the way down to the base station but the old 2 man chair has been replaced with a high speed quad and they were just building the terrain park as they finally have enough snow. My memory of the Manor was that it was pretty much on its own, but there are now a lot more buildings and they are building a ski and snowboard headquarters next to what is now the beginners area. We had a little look round then set off back to our side of the mountain. We took a slight wrong turn on the way back which meant that we ended up skiing a bit further than we planned, so when we finally got back to our side of the mountain we rewarded ourselves with another hot chocolate and whipped cream, we sat by the window and this time we could actually see the fantastic views. We finally headed back down and got back to the room about 3pm and relaxed for a couple of hours before jumping in the shower and heading off in search of something to eat.
