The promised snow definitely arrived today when we got up we couldn’t see the top of the mountain and on top of that it was really windy so we decided to give ourselves a day off from skiing. We decided we would take a ride out to the nordic centre to make sure we allowed enough time to get to our cross country lesson tomorrow. After a relaxed breakfast we walked round to the bus stop and over to the nordic centre we decided we wouldn’t bother getting off the bus and instead we went back to Vail central to have a look round. We got off at the transportation centre and walked into Vail via the covered bridge which was pretty much the only place we recognised. We walked through to the gondola trying to look out for landmarks we would recognise but to be honest it has all changed so much it was hard to work out where we were most of the time. We had a walk round then got back on the bus to head back to Lionshead. I must admit there isn’t as much down at Vail central as I remember although when we were on the bus on the way back we realised that we didn’t walk all the way through the town so perhaps next time we go we will do that. We got off the bus and walked round Lionshead again and decided to stop for lunch which was really nice. The weather hasn’t cleared at all which in a way is good as it is giving us some much needed snow, but it also makes skiing hard work in the flat light. Hopefully it will snow for the next couple of days while we are cross country skiing then hopefullly it will be really nice on Monday when we are back on the slopes.
