Wednesday 31 January – Wheres the sun gone?

The forecast for today was partly sunny then snow tomorrow so we were keen to go out and ski as much as possible before the light turns very flat when the snow comes. The good news is that it is Wednesday and therefore not very many people on the mountain, I am sure at one stage we were the only people on one of the lifts. We spent a bit of time skiing around on our mountain then decided to work our way over to Golden Peak. We really could do with some new snow as some of the runs are more brown than white where the snow ploughs have ended up picking up mud rather than snow but all the same we did get some good runs in and we covered a fair few miles. It is interesting comparing the stats provided by the Fitbit and the ones provided by the Epic Mix it would seem that yesterday although we didn’t ski as far we did more vertical feet so basically we did a lot of steep short runs, today however we did more long runs but also did quite a few vertical feet which means that we did more miles than yesterday. Looking at Fitbit our highest speed today was 30 miles per hour, that was probably the bit where I was a bit out of control! We decided to call it a day mid afternoon and went back to the apartment. Having a look at the weather forecast it now seems that we are going to get snow for the next few days so hopefully we will get some great skiing in.
