Saturday 3 February – Cross Country session 3

The good news was that when we woke up the long forecast snow had finally arrived, the bad news was that it had pretty much stopped by 10.00 so we will have to continue with the snow dance, to be honest it didn’t really matter as we had already decided that we were going to cross country today and tomorrow so after breakfast we set off for the golf club and another day on the cross country skis. We decided that we would do classic again today to try and remember what it is we should be doing. Joanne who gave us the lesson last week was on the desk when we arrived and I think was both surprised and pleased to see us! After getting our boots and skis we set off for the tracks to see how much we could remember. Although at first it was quite difficult it actually started coming back quite quickly and by the time we stopped for a Hot Chocolate and a lot of water we were definitely getting the hang of it. We went out again after our break and this time we tried a new track which went out towards the first and second tee’s there was even a sign saying that the back nine was closed which was rather stating the obvious as the whole golf course is covered in snow and has cross country tracks cut into the snow. We skied for another hour or so then decided to call it a day, we had some lunch then headed back to the apartment. The good news is we went twice as far as we did last time and at twice the speed so we must be getting better. Now it is just a case of trying to remember how to skate tomorrow.
