After the snow storm of sorts yesterday it was back to clear blue sky’s this morning so full of optimism we set off for the hill as it is Wednesday which is a notoriously quiet day as all the long weekenders have either gone home on Tuesday or don’t arrive until Thursday. When we got there we were a little worried as both the Gondola and chair lift had queues not something we have ever seen on a Wednesday, in part this was because the Gondola had broken and had only just started running again so we decided to take the chair and head straight over to the other side before it got too busy at Mid Vail. I think a large number of people had stayed up on the mountain because of the snow yesterday. All the same we had a really good ski and the snow was really nice as it was not as ‘packed’ as it has been. We skied round Flapjack as it wasn’t that busy and there was no lift line at all. We stopped for hot chocolate at Two Elk Lodge which was possibly a mistake as when we started to move again everything seemed to have stopped working! It was definitely starting to get busy so we decided to start heading back across to the Lionshead side of the mountain. We did a couple of runs at Mid Vail then after a stop for late lunch we decided to head down as the slopes were starting to get quite bumpy and we were definitely starting to feel it in the knees, hopefully the conditions will be the same tomorrow and we can have another nice day of snow and soft conditions.
