I can’t believe today is the last day and we have been here 3 weeks. We decided that as the village is getting a bit busy we would go back to cross country today and see if the last couple of weekends are finally starting to sink in. Unfortunately we didn’t get the regulars discount for ski hire but to be honest it was only $10 anyway so its not a big problem. There wasn’t really any question about what Chris was going to do but I couldn’t decide if I would do skate or classic, in the end I decided to do skate as I think I need the practice. I was a bit worried as once we had got our skis on I didn’t seem to be able to move, later in the day the wax guy did say that he had seen that we were having problems and he was going to come out with some different wax but he kept getting interrupted and by the time he came out we were ‘long gone’ I think that was a slight exaggeration but it was nice of him to say this all the same! Once I managed to get the skis moving I did make some progress but it wasn’t as good as I hoped, then all of a sudden it seemed to click and I managed to go quite a distance and most importantly I could keep it going at a managed speed. We did a loop that we haven’t done before and Chris definitely has the hang of it and I am definitely getting there. We stopped for hot chocolate and then started again and we could still skate, we are both definitely starting to really enjoy this, although I don’t think it will replace alpine but we will do it again next time we go skiing. We came back to the room and sorted out returning our alpine skis, then jumped in the shower as we are meeting Dave tonight as he is bringing Lillie up to Vail for a cross country competition this weekend – strange that we didn’t see him in Breckenridge last year and that is where they have a house yet we are seeing him in Vail!
