Monday 7th May – To Vegas to win our fortune

After what seemed like a very long flight we finally arrived in Las Vegas at about 1.30pm. One of the many benefits of going business class is that we were pretty much first off the plane and through customs before everyone else had disembarked! Even more impressive was the fact that the priority tags on our bags seemed to work and they were at baggage reclaim by the time we got there. All of this unfortunately caused problems for the limo service we had ordered as they didn’t expect us to be through so quickly and after a bit of confusion and direction to the wrong place we finally connected with John our driver who was very apologetic and delivered us safely to the Cosmopolitan Hotel which looked exactly the same as it did 4 years ago when we were last here. As always being nice to the concierge helps and we managed to get an upgrade, we had already paid for a room overlooking the Bellagio fountains but we needed up on the 61st floor in a suite with separate seating and bedroom, it also has a spa bath that looks out over the fountains although I am not sure we are going to use that! The temperature display in our room said it was 100F when we came up to the room which was noticeable when we went and sat on the balcony. We dropped our stuff in the room then went back down to the casino for a walk round then went into a bar for something to eat and drink, although we had been fed almost constantly you still end up with a slightly hollow feeling. After a few drinks we decided to come back to the room for a rest before heading off out tonight to go and see David Copperfield. We walked down to the MGM Grand and arrived about 10 minutes before the show was due to start as we had underestimated how long it would take us to walk to the theatre within the complex! We had fantastic seats, four rows back from the stage and right in the middle of the action as each time he came into the audience it seemed to see either the walkway in front or the one behind, despite this we still couldn’t see what he was up to! He somehow managed to make a car appear on stage without anyone noticing and also a space ship hover right above our heads again how it appeared I have no idea! All too soon the show was over so we had a few unsuccessful goes on the fruit machine then set off back to our hotel. On the way back we stopped at a bar and had a few drinks and a snack then got back to the room about 10.30 more than ready for bed!
