We both woke up quite early today but certainly more alive than yesterday. We decided we would go to a local diner for breakfast so set off only to find that it is closed for maintenance! We ended up at MGM again and decided we would have something there otherwise it would be lunchtime before we made a decision. We had an enormous breakfast which set us up nicely for the day and wasn’t particularly expensive, although if we eat like this every morning we may have to buy some larger clothes by the end of the holiday. We walked to the Mandalay Bay hotel which is pretty much one end of Las Vegas and started working out way back up. We did go inside the Mandalay as we hadn’t made it down that far before it is a massive complex and I think reflecting the fact that they are quite a way from the main action there seemed to be more shops and restaurants in the hotel complex, they have a monorail that runs between the Mandalay and the Excalibur which we jumped on but only as far as the Luxor which is a very Egyptian themed hotel both inside and out. They seem to have put a lot of effort into reproducing the entrance way to the temple at Karnak as well as a few other buildings although I don’t remember a Spinx in Luxor. We brought a drink and had a go on a few slot machines then continued our walk. We didn’t bother going into the Excalibur but we did go into New York New York which I think is my favourite so far as it has a lot of what feel like streets with tenement buildings inside that house restaurants and shops and the outside is a series of different buildings from the New York skyline such as the Empire State Building as well as a replica of the Statue of Liberty. We walked round all of this casino then continued up the road, although we did stop for a milkshake as it is quite hot work the next casino we went in was Caesar’s Palace which we hadn’t made it into last time we were here but we did this time. It is actually quite different to the others, although in some ways it seems less busy in others it is very much the same as all the rest. We played on the slots and actually won! We had originally planned to walk all the way down to Stratosphere but it would seem that a number of the casino’s along that part of strip have been pulled down so we went into Treasure Island – quite disappointing, but didn’t bother with the Mirage then crossed over the road to start the walk back, we stopped at the Venetian as we wanted to see the indoor canal again, but at first we couldn’t find it and we thought it had either changed or we had imagined it but perseverance paid off and we finally located the replica of Venice on the 2nd floor – where else would you put a canal! By the time we had finished looking round it was almost 4pm so we decided to head back to the hotel for a rest before going out to Cirque du Sol tonight. We got back to the room and had a couple of drinks while Chris uploaded the photo’s and I wrote the blog, then it was time to head back to MGM for this evenings show. I am not quite sure what i expected but the show was very different but very enjoyable, we went to see Ka which is loosely based on a Chinese fairytale our seats were in the front row and a lot of the acrobatics took place over our heads, they were very strong and along with spectacular acrobatics there were pyrotechnics the time flew by and I couldn’t believe it when it came to an end we had been watching them perform tricks for an hour and a half. We decided to get something to eat before heading back to the hotel where we picked up a coffee and went and sat on the balcony just in time for the fountains to start. I finished the blog then drank my coffee and then collapsed in bed, my Fitbit says that we have walked 13 miles today so a rest is definitely in order.
