Wednesday 11th July – Munich here we come

After a fantastic day at Wimbledon yesterday but quite a late night we had a very early start being at the airport just before 7am. The good news was that we could drop our bags in the business class section (even though we are in Economy) then head off to the lounge for some breakfast and a quick relax before boarding. It is only a 2 hour flight but we also lose an hour on the way out so we landed on schedule at 12:00. We managed to get through passport control despite the chaos of the queue, somehow the normal German efficiency didn’t come into play here, then after collecting our bags we set off for the train. There are only 2 S-Bhan lines from the airport and luckily both head to the Market square which is where we wanted to get off. It took about 30 minutes to get to the centre of Munich then it was just a case of deciding which direction we should go, luckily Google maps worked its magic and within 5 minutes we arrived at the hotel. We didn’t think we would be able to check-in as they were quite clear that the rooms wouldn’t be ready until 3pm but it was ready so we went up to our room, unpacked and picked up the umbrellas as it looks a bit like rain then we set off in search of lunch. We are really close to the centre so we decided to have a pizza and a couple of beers in a local restaurant then we went for a walk around the market square. This is where we will be exploring tomorrow so after a rather unsuccessful visit to tourist information – everything they have seems to start in August We walked back to the hotel for a relax and to try and decide if we are going to try and watch the England v Croatia game tonight or just go and explore one of the local beer Keller’s in the mean time we managed to find the Tour de France on the TV so we decided to watch that!
