We all woke up bright and early this morning and had breakfast on the deck looking for turtles in the water around us, then it was time to head for our first stop of the day which is White Haven beach. This was about an hour and a half away from where we had spent the night and we managed to get the sails up although we didn’t turn off the motor at any point. When we arrived at the beach we were ferried ashore in the inflatable then we went for a walk to the main lookout points. They are just building another lookout but unfortunately it won’t be open until Tuesday but the view from the first lookout was spectacular enough, the white haven beach is 7km long and is all white sand, apparently this sand is so fine it was actually used to make the hubble telescope lens. After spending some time at the lookout we then walked down to the beach and had our first swim in the sea in Australia. The water is so clear it was stunning and we saw a couple of stingrays swimming along I think waiting for the tide to come in so they could feast on the crabs that live in the sand. We actually had a couple of hours on the beach so we spent quite a lot of it in the water then went for a walk along the beach and finally came back and relaxed on the sand enjoying the solitude as not many people come to this beach at all. Just as I was nicely relaxed it was time to leave so we walked back to the meeting point and then back onto the boat where lunch was waiting for us. After lunch we set off for our next location where we went snorkelling. Unlike Hawaii we actually put on wet suits here mostly because the water isn’t as warm so after fighting our way into a wetsuit, flippers and a mask we jumped into the water and started swimming, it was amazing just like swimming though a fish tank. The fish were stunning colours although there was a lot of what looked like sediment in the water although Shane (our captain) said they were actually Jelly fish spoors, there were a few quite large fish as well as a lot of smaller ones. We swam around for quite some time then got back to the boat and had a cup of coffee to warm up. The wetsuits definitely helped but I still got a bit cold but to be honest it was so fascinating watching the fish it was easy to ignore being cold. After we had our coffee we set off for our final location of the day which is where we will spend the night. We actually got there a bit earlier than expected and Shane did say we could go for a swim if we wanted but as I had finally managed to dry out we decided not to bother and just sat and looked at the fantastic scenery. We actually saw a goat with two little kids following it across the rocks they looked so cute We all got a drink then Shane got the map out and showed us where we had been over the last few days, this was followed by dinner then after a coffee and a bit of a chat it was time for bed before we get up and do it all again tomorrow.
