Sunday 21st October – back to dry land

We all woke up early again today and went up on deck to see if we could see anything, breakfast was ready about 7am then we just sat watching the goat that was on the rocks trying to work its way along which was quite entertaining. About 8:00 we got into wet suits and Chris had a go at stand up paddle boarding which was obviously more difficult than it looks as he managed to both fall off and end up underneath it! I decided my balance isn’t that great at the best of time so I wouldn’t have a go so we jumped into the water and went off in search of fish and coral. There were a few fish but nowhere near as many as we had seen yesterday but we did see a little bit of coral, mostly it has been bleached but every now and then you can see a bit of colour. We stayed in the water for about an hour then swam back to the boat to dry off and get changed. We are heading back to Airlie Beach today so after a cup of coffee and some biscuits the engine was started and we pointed for home. There wasn’t much to see on the way back although the weather is fantastic but we were heading against the wind so we didn’t have the sail up this time. We did see a couple of boats with sails and even one with a spinnaker which looked like it was going quite well. We got back to the mooring about 12:30 then after saying goodbye to everyone we set off towards the hotel, stopping for lunch on route as we didn’t think we would be able to check in straight away. They had taken our bags up to our room for us and had been sorting out the parking for us so this has definitely been a good choice of hotel. We walked down the road and picked up a milkshake and a few beers then came back to the room to put everything on charge and Chris worked on finding the best bits of the video we had taken. All that was left was for us to have a relax then head out for something to eat before moving on again in the morning
