Tuesday 30th October – To the Northern Territories

It is time for us to leave Queensland and head north. Our flight is not until 3pm but we have managed to keep the apartment until 12.00 so after jamming everything into our case we still had time to go for a walk around Port Douglas which we realised we hadn’t actually done so far, we walked to the beach then to the end of town, literally the end, it is probably about 1km from coast to coast although I think the other side of town is actually a river. We walked back to the apartment then loaded the car up, checked out and set off for Cairns. Check in was relatively simple and going though security was strange as they only wanted you to get out aerosol cans, laptops and umbrellas. You can take as much liquid as you like through and they didn’t seem that fussed about much. I had made butties this morning so we found a seat and ate them then went to the bar for a drink as we are not driving at the other end then it was time to get on the plane. Paul had booked us emergency exit seats which definitely gave more leg room. The flight was a couple of hours but there is also a 30 minute time difference so it was just after 5pm when we landed. We took a taxi round to the apartment then after dropping the bags in the room we set off for the supermarket to buy some supplies then came back to the room for a relax, do a bit of laundry and make sure we are ready to explore Darwin tomorrow
