It is a day of traveling today as we are heading to Alice Springs, rather than driving the 1600km from Katherine we are heading back to Darwin to fly to Alice which is the equivalent of flying from the top of Scotland to Switzerland! It is a four hour drive back to Darwin so we set off about 8am and after dodging a few wallabies that were on their way home after what was probably a late night we arrived at the airport safe and sound. Check in was really easy as it was empty although the self service kiosk never knows about our passports despite that we dropped our bags then went to the bar to get some lunch and a drink before boarding our flight at 1.30. The flight was half empty in fact I think we could probably have had a row each and still have room to spare but that meant that we boarded really quickly and then we were off. The flight was uneventful and we arrived in Alice Springs about 4.00 where it feels positively cool as there doesn’t seem to be any humidity and it is only about 25C which is very pleasant, unfortunately it is due to warm up again tomorrow and the rest of the week but hopefully the humidity won’t rise again. We got into the room and re-ordered the cases as we had distributed things differently for the flight then as we don’t have a car here it was a bit late to walk into town which is about 15 minutes from the hotel so we just had a relax before heading out for something to eat later.
