Some time last night the snow stopped so we set off for our final days skiing in the hope that we would both find some powder and also some clear skies, unfortunately the 30inches of snow we have had over the last day or so was lovely but very quickly became quite bumpy and that coupled with the flat light made it a bit of a challenge. All the same we had some good runs but the Friday mob had definitely arrived in great numbers so the queues at the lift grew quite long which meant we started spending longer getting up the mountain than we did down so we skied until lunch time then went to Ten mile station for a break. Big surprise while we were at lunch it started snowing again and the already flat light made it feel like it was almost dark so we decided to call it quits and head back down the mountain. After a bit of a relax we took our skis back then after a shower started thinking about packing and heading back home. Sometime between dropping the skis back and going out for dinner another couple of inches of snow had fallen and pathways that had been clear as we walked down to Main Street Sports were covered, it seems to have been a good call about changing the pickup time for tomorrow. Saturday when we woke up this morning it actually wasn’t snowing but by the time we had a shower, breakfast, finished packing and walked round to reception to check out it was snowing again although only lightly. We worked it out that in the 3 weeks we have been here there had been 92 inches of new snow that is 7 foot 8 inches!!! The CME driver said it might be a slow journey down but although there was quite a bit of snow on the road we actually made relatively good time and arrived about 1pm. We saw why Loveland Pass was closed as the avalanche had completely covered the road and there were 3 snow ploughs working on clearing it. We didn’t think that checkin would be open until about 2pm but as luck would have it it was open so we dropped the bags, went and had some panda noodles to keep us going then went to the lounge to relax and wait for our flight which unfortunately has been delayed by a couple of hours but as we have access to the lounge and free drinks it shouldn’t be too much of a hardship.
