Today we say farewell to Baracoa and table mountain otherwise known as El Yunque. We had a great afternoon yesterday swimming and relaxing before the rain came in about 6:30 but it quickly passed so we sat on the balcony for a while getting ready to achieving 15,000 steps and a few hundred floors tomorrow. The roads out here are so bouncy somehow Fitbit thinks we are walking a long way and up hill, I think the maximum we have achieved while sitting in the back of a car is 13,000 steps and 211 floors which is making it quite hard to tell how far we are actually walking but as Chris says it is making the stats look good! After our six hour transfer the other day where we had been told it would take four we were ready for a long day today as we had been told today’s journey would be four hours but this was actually accurate so we pulled into Santiago de Cuba at 13:00 although we couldn’t be dropped at the front door as it is a pedestrian street. As soon as we walked in the door they asked Chris if he was Chris Barnes so I am not sure if we are the only people staying in the hotel or they have been warned about us! We got our key and went to the room which is really nice and just as we were settling in a couple of welcome cocktails were delivered to the room all very civilised. By the time we had sorted everything and Chris had uploaded the last couple of days of photos the roof bar was open so we headed upstairs to have a look at the view and reward ourselves with a drink, we need to have a look at what we have planned and possibly change some things round, but we have the local rep coming to the hotel tomorrow so we can ask any questions then.
