Monday, today it was back on the boards, the first thing I noticed was that they have edges and I almost fell over in the lift queue when I tried to stop! The second thing was that someone had cut approximately two foot off the bottom of the poles which made pushing away from the lift a little tricky. It didn’t take long to get used to the downhill skis again and we had a great morning with a bit of sun, then it started snowing but we managed to get a few runs in before it really started to snow heavily and the light became really flat so we decided to ski down to Maggies for lunch and then make a decision about either going back to the room or going out again, after lunch if anything it had got heavier so we picked up our skis and went back to the room for a relax as we still have two weeks to go. Tuesday the snow had stopped this morning so we set off to explore the mountain. I am not sure if it is the time of year or if it is because it is mid week but the slopes are nice and empty, we did pretty much every run on Peak 9 and actually stopped a couple of times and had a a really nice lunch at the Peak 9 restaurant which is now called the overlook, they seem to have employed a Thai or Asian chief as they have a couple of Asian dishes on the menu, Chris and I both had the Thai Green curry which was lovely but quite spicy which we liked but I am surprised that the American’s like it after lunch we did a couple more runs then about 3pm we stopped as we needed the rest! Wednesday the weather is being a little strange at the moment, we have had at least a dusting of snow each day but the mornings seem to start sunny then the clouds roll in but today we were pretty much the only people on the mountain so we skied Peak 9 until we had a break for hot chocolate then despite the clouds gathering we decided to head over to Peak 8 and then Peak 7, I really like the runs over there but the link between Peak 8 and 7 definitely needs work as it is still a long track that I don’t think I have ever made it over in one go! We did a couple of runs on Peak 7 then planned to head back to 8 but the chair lift was stationary and the queue was quite long so we decided to jump onto the Gondola to get back to Peak 8, after a couple of runs on 8 we stopped for lunch and headed back to Peak 9, which involves coming back down Frosties which is a black run that is always a little tricky and today was probably the busiest run we have been down, the good news is we made it so we did a couple more runs on Peak 9 and as it had started snowing again decided to head back down and take our ski’s in for a rewax in the hope that I might make it along the track one of these days! Thursday, we walked down to collect our skis then set off to the slopes, again it was nice and clear this morning but the clouds gathered and by chocolate it was snowing, we skied until lunch then decided to call it a day as it was quite windy, really cold and snowing quite hard. We went round to the supermarket to top up our drinks and snacks supply then came back to the room about 4pm and after a shower and a bit of a relax it was time to find a film to watch before going to bed and doing it all again tomorrow. Friday and there isn’t any snow in the forecast today, but the temperature was -19C while we were having breakfast so we decided to have a later start to the day to try and give the sun the time to warm it up a bit! Even though it is Friday we decided to Alpine ski today as it hasn’t been very busy so we did a few runs before having a hot chocolate then we headed over to C chair as Mercury was getting a bit busy. As the weather was kind we took the camera out today and managed to capture a few runs in partial sunshine. We had lunch down at Maggies then decided to call it a day and came back to the apartment to relax before hitting the cross country tracks tomorrow. The forecast is for it to warm up over the next few days which will make a nice change but the forecast is for the snow to start again on Monday.
